Summer holidays in the south of Salzburg
Holidays in Salzburg's Lungau region
In Lungau, nestled between the Niedere Tauern, Hohe Tauern and Nockberge mountains at 1,100 metres above sea level, a hiking paradise of superlatives awaits you. The spicy, aromatic mountain air, an alpine landscape that is home to a colourful abundance of plants and animals, and the tranquil beauty of nature make hiking an experience that offers pure enjoyment and relaxation.
Almost 60 mountain lakes, dreamy eyes in the landscape, crystal clear and sparkling, from emerald green to silvery shimmering, are scattered across green alpine pastures and quiet cirques. They are often nestled among rocks and peaks. The same goes for our 70 rustic alpine huts, which offer everything from alpine cheese to pine schnapps, all homemade, of course.
Since 2012, the unique cultural and natural landscape of the Salzburg Lungau has been recognised by UNESCO as a biosphere park.
